John Hardaway Bentley

John Hardaway Bentley, 72, of Dewitt, VA, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 24, 2022, at his home. A native of Dinwiddie County, he was the only child of the late Charles Anderson Bentley and Paula Howard Bentley. Born January 8, 1950, he was a 1968 graduate of Randolph Macon Academy. He attended the University of Tampa in Tampa, FL for 2 years before returning to Virginia to attend John Tyler Community College, graduating with an associate degree in Mortuary Science. After working at Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home in Richmond for 10 years he returned to Dinwiddie County where he farmed for 40 years. John, who never met a stranger, will be remembered for his outgoing personality. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Kathryn Lampkin Bentley and one son, Charles Hardaway Bentley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 31, 2022, at Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church, 17113 McKenney Avenue, DeWitt, VA 23840 with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
