VFDA Legislative Alert:
Comment Period Opens June 1 for Requirements for preparation rooms for establishments that do not embalm

Please find the link to the next stage of comments, which will be open from June 1, 2026, and remain open through July 1, 2026 - Effective Date July 16, 2026. 

VFDA encourages all members to review the Regulations Governing the Practice of Funeral Homes, specifically the requirements for preparation rooms for establishments that do not embalm.

Please submit your comments via Virginia Townhall June 1 - July 1, 2026. We also encourage you to share your comments with VFDA so that we might submit comments that represent our membership.

Please note: Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers Executive Director Corie Tillman Wolf will be presenting at the upcoming 138th Annual Convention.  We look forward to seeing you there!

SCAM ALERT

VFDA has been alerted to a scam in the Roanoke area. Families have reported calls from individuals falsely claiming that insurance funds can’t be released until a death certificate is filed, then pressuring them to make an immediate ‘deposit.’

These calls are not legitimate. 
Please inform your families that your funeral home will never call unexpectedly demanding payment.
