Charles E. Gunn, Sr.

Charles E. Gunn, Sr., 78, of Blackstone, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at his home. He is survived by four children, Ginger Bishop (David), Cindy Hart (Phil), Eddie Gunn (Jody) and Kathy Basinger (Ron); eight grandchildren, William and Jason Bishop, Josh and Ryan Shabram, Stuart, Dustin and Brooke Gunn, and Dallas Basinger; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Wallace Gunn; two nephews, Chris and Brian Gunn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Edward H. Gunn. Charles started his career as an insurance agent with Farm Bureau and retired from United Insurance. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved grilling out and having a good time with friends. You could always find him with the “breakfast crew” at McDonald’s. Charles was always willing to help anyone that was in need at anytime of the day or night and showed his dedication in his last 13 years working for the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM, Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road, Blackstone, VA, 23824. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Marks United Methodist Church Cemetery, 7721 Hungarytown Road, Crewe, VA, 23930. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department, 318 Church Street, Blackstone, VA, 23824.
