Charlotte Slate Ambrose

Surrounded by her family on the afternoon of April 29, 2021, Charlotte Slate Ambrose, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and to a life free of suffering and pain.

She was the daughter of the late Leroy and Edmonia Slate of Redart in Mathews County. Charlotte retired from Andrews Funeral Home after 33 years where she assisted families during their time of loss. Her favorite things in life were being with her family and friends at any type of gathering, which over the years included beach trips, sporting events, and meals to celebrate any number of occasions.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy L. and Edmonia H. Slate. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Bernard Ambrose; daughter, Betty Ambrose (Emory Nadeau); son, Jeff Ambrose (Andrea), grandchildren; Damien Nadeau (Sarah Weston), Evan Ambrose, and Ashby Ambrose; and brother, Leroy Slate, Jr. (Sue).

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and Gloucester Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P. O. Box 1417 Gloucester, Virginia 23061.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Windsor Gardens. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester is in charge of arrangements.
