Ryland B Bennett
Ryland Branch Bennett, 85, of Danville, VA, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Duke Medical Center after a decline in his health for the past three months.
Ryland was born in Danville, VA, on September 20, 1936, a son of the late Aubrey Branch Bennett and Pearl Collie Bennett. He lived his life in Pittsylvania County and Danville, and served his community in many ways during his life.
Ryland was a Funeral Director at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes since September 20, 1955, where he was owner and operator. He was a graduate of John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science, Class of 1958. He was a member of Kentuck Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, a member of the choir, Deacon, and on numerous other church committees. He was a member of God’s Pit Crew since 2009, a life member of the Danville Life Saving Crew, Tuscarora Country Club, a member of the GW Football Fan Club for 25 years, and a member of Kent Lodge # 305 A.F. & A.M. where he served as Past President.
On December 27, 1958 he married Dorothy Yates Bennett, who survives.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, Ryland is survived by two sons, Ryland Mark Bennett (Nancy) of Gainesville, VA; and Dudley Scott Bennett (Jeannie) of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Kathryn Bennett, John Bennett (Cat), Cameron Bennett, and Ryland Lee Bennett.
He was predeceased by a sister, Doris B. Morris, and a brother, Roy Dudley Bennett.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Ryan Busby and Mr. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Burial Park with masonic rites conducted by Kent Lodge # 305.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
