Mildred Geer Morris

Mildred Geer Morris, 87, of Charlottesville passed away peacefully on November 22, 2021 at the Hospice House.

Born at Geer in Greene County, VA, on September 3, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Walter Ray and Myrtle Ponton Geer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Mary Louise Geer Mawyer and her niece, Shelby Mawyer McAllister.

Before graduating from Lane High School in 1954, she went to work for H.M. Gleason and Company until she joined her friend Charlotte Ramsey in the Real Estate industry in 1977. Mildred went on to earn her realtor’s license and was recognized by CAAR as Salesperson of the Year in 1987. Mildred retired from her real estate career in 2013 at the age of 79. Mildred also served as Secretary & Treasurer of the family business, H. & M. Novelty Company, Inc. which she and her husband co-founded in 1966.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Floyd L. Morris; her two sons, Cary Allen Morris and his wife Claire Marx Morris of Richmond, Barry Keith Morris and his wife Lisa Meyer of Albemarle County, VA. She was a proud, loving and doting Meme to her 5 grandchildren, Leigh Morris Stisser and her husband Brian of Staunton, Carla Geer Morris of Los Angeles, CA, Keith Allen Morris and fiancée Anna Lehnen of Durham, NC, Caitlin McAllister Morris of Charlotte, NC, Grayson Elizabeth Morris of Richmond and her four great grandchildren, Evie, Lucy, Charly and Jack Stisser.

In keeping with Mildred’s wishes her family celebrated and honored her life in a private graveside service at Holly Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers and food the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 355 Rio Rd W STE 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901 or to the church of your choice.
